Greensboro, the seat of
Hale County, is served by State Highways 14, 25, 61 and 69,
about 35 miles south of Tuscaloosa and 78 miles southwest of
Birmingham.
Hale County is
located in the west-central section of the state, and is drained
by the Black Warrior River.
Among many area attractions
are the Alabama Museum of Natural History and Bama Belle
Riverboat, a modern day replica of one of the grand paddlewheel
riverboats that graced the Black Warrior in the 1900s. The
oldest operating theatre in Tuscaloosa is the Bama Theatre.
Area recreation includes Payne Lake Nature Trail, Payne Lake and
Payne Lake Dam. Six Mile Bend features great whitewater paddling.
You'll find great golfing at Mimosa Gold Course and Tennehill
National Golf Course just to name a few. |
